Zombie Girl and their label Alfa Matrix have released a statement regarding the death of Carly Ryan, a 15-year-old girl who was murdered in 2007. The Daily Mail recently published an article linking Ryan's murder to the Zombie Girl album 'Blood, Brains And Rock & Roll' and Goth networking site VampireFreaks.

The Daily Mail article criticised the website and the music of Zombie Girl. It reads: "To this day, the website www.vampirefreaks.com features young women in provocative poses, amid photos that display items such as a black 'sexy psycho dress' and a 'sleeveless bondage dress', along with a music album called Zombie Girl - 'Blood Brains & Rock 'N' Roll'."

Cooper responded, "I am shocked, horrified and saddened that a young girl and a fan of Zombie Girl was murdered. My heart goes out to her family and friends." She added, "The music and image that I portray on stage is an act. It is not who I am. This is not what the music is about."

The second member of Zombie Girl, Sebastian Komor also responded saying, "Zombie Girl is fictional and just a fun project dealing with the topics of the living dead and all that. To have my music mentioned in a case like this really bothers me."

Alfa Matrix has stated that none of the bands on their label condone violence or any of the behaviors the paper mentioned.
